The Plume of Feathers
Large Greene King pub with good size beer garden to rear
Often full of groups of cyclists and walkers which is testiment to its value for money. However, results in average service for the rest of us.
The Plume of Feathers ale is what keeps us going back. It's a dependable house ale, far superior to the standard big brewery offerings. And a perfectly acceptable wine list (but we only drink the house ale when we're there...)
A small table service area but you can eat anywhere in the pub - worth booking though. The service isn't brilliant. You'll often be walked past without being acknowledged while waiting for a table and then there is no "presence" should you need anything during the meal. The kitchen has been known to take a very long time - over an hour
