Lovely staff and excellent value for money. Also, beautifully made up with it's new look (apart from low hanging light fittings that anyone above 5'10 might lose their scalp to. Including our waiter, twice).
The food was disappointing. Potentially just teething problems with a brand new kitchen and cooks. It was served promptly and well presented but it seemed as though it was rushed out of the kitchen and we ended up, therefore, with slightly undercooked potato products (chips and fries).
McMullen ales are universally bland and watery. Other McMullen pubs may have a drinkable guest or special but sadly we've never seen one here. And, as usual, an average wine list and lager/cider choices.
Overall, a nice "local" but a mediocre meal out.
